Positive: Lodge Oka has a classic styling that brings together the charms of a traditional ryokan with the vibes of a mountain chalet in Colorado. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (especially working through my own broken Japanese). The dinner’s offered each night are more affordable than any other nearby location I found, especially for the feast you are presented with. To top things off, it’s a very quick 5-10 minute walk right to Mt. Naeba, but if thats not your style the staff will shuttle you there in their van. I would love to make this a regular vacation spot for my return snow trips in Nihon in the future! I truly believe in the wash of luxury resorts the prices of the snow lifestyle going up, its places like Lodge Oka that keep the snowboarding vibe alive and help make this lovely world accessible to more and more people each day.
