It dates back to the Yamato Imperial Court, and was called Iware in the ancient Yamato Province, and was often chosen as the land for the Emperor's palace.
It is a town that has been nurtured by the flow of spiritual energy from all four directions, with Omiwa Shrine to the north, Tanzan Shrine to the south, Hasedera Temple to the east, and Abe Monjuin Temple to the west, and large shrines and famous temples on all four sides.
